Dal - tasty Indian lentil soup (vegan)

A Dal is a tasty Indian lentil soup and it's very easy to make! Find the recipe for the naan bread here.




Take 300 gr yellow lentils and cook them in 1.5 liters of water for about 10-15 minutes. We need them for our recipe. Keep them in the water.


Here are the ingredients for the soup:

  • 300 gr yellow lentils

  • 4 cloves of garlic

  • 2 laurel leaves, some nutmeg, some coriander, some cardamom, 2-3 clove buds, and some cinnamon. You can replace these by one big spoon of garam masala powder.

  • Ginger 

  • Turmeric

  • Cumin

  • Chilli

  • Pepper 

  • Salt

  • Coconut oil

Cut the garlic into fine slices and roast it on middle heat, together with the spices, in a good quantity of coconut oil.


When the garlic starts to change color on it's border, it's time to add the lentils together with the water they were cooked in. Leave this for 3 minutes and it's done! Season with some salt and fresh herbs.
